[43.07] Optimized Observations of Periodic Variable Stars : Dwarf Cepheids and \delta Scutis

E. G. Hintz, M. D. Joner (Brigham Young University)

An interactive World Wide Web database will be detailed. This database allows optimal use of telescope time to observe periodic variable stars. The system is being installed at the Brigham Young University West Mountain Observatory, but will be available online to anyone interested in observing variable stars. The initial set of variable stars will consist of stars which have been classified as either a dwarf Cepheid or a \delta Scuti. This will include many stars newly discovered by the Hipparcos satellite. In the future we hope to add other types of pulsating variable stars, as well as eclipsing variables. A major goal of this database is to fasilitate monitoring of these stars for period and/or amplitude changes which may occur. In addition to the database system we will present a few results from stars in the database.
