[47.14] On the Origin of the 21 micron Feature

Laboratory emission spectra of simple PAH molecules naphthalene, pyrene and chrysene are compared with the astronomical spectra of the unidentified 21 \mum emission feature. The correlation of the presence of this feature with other PAH features in carbon-rich post-AGB stars suggests that this feature is related to PAH molecules.
