Session 83 - Gravitational Lensing.
Display session, Friday, January 09
Exhibit Hall,
Simultaneous photometry of compact cosmological sources by widely separated observers could, in theory, be used to probe the density of compact objects in the universe, including a universal distribution of MACHOs. These compact objects would create a slightly different gravitational lens amplification between the two observers, recoverable with sufficiently sensitive photometry. An expanding source would be expected to damp the lens-induced brightness difference when it becomes larger than the Einstein ring of the lens. Optimal, although perhaps ambitious, observing scenarios will be discussed for GRB multi-wavelength counterparts.
