Session 111 - Pulsars.
Display session, Saturday, January 10
Exhibit Hall,
We present high signal-to-noise, high time-resolution infrared (IR) and X-ray pulse profiles of the Crab Nebula pulsar taken over time baselines ranging from 10 months to 5 years. We place upper limits on any variability in the pulse profiles on timescales from the 33-ms pulse period down to the limiting resolution of the observations (\sim 20 \mus). We discuss the implications of the pulse profile stability for models of the pulsar emission mechanism and for the suggested long-term modulation of the gamma-ray pulse profile.
