[33.05] Are Gamma-Ray Burst Properties related to those of theirX-ray Afterglows?

F. Frontera (Physics Dept, U. Ferrara, Italy and Ist. TESRE, CNR, Bologna, Italy)

The discovery of X-ray afterglows of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRB) with the BeppoSAX satellite has renewed interest for the GRB phenomenon. In the cases an X-ray afteglow has been found, it is now possible to correlate the GRB properties with those of their afterglows. With BeppoSAX we already have a small sample of GRBs promptly observed with the Narrow Field Instruments. From most of them, probably from all GRBs precisely localized, an afterglow source was discovered in the 2-10 keV energy band. For each of these sources, the time decline was measured and, in some cases, also their energy spectrum was determined. I will report on the main properties of corresponding GRBs, mainly spectral evolution and energy distribution in different energy ranges, and correlate these properties with those of the afterglow sources.
