[42.05] Using Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Effect Number Counts to Probe Ømega_\circ

Number counts of Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect inducing galaxy clusters can be used as a powerful probe of Ømega_\circ . We simulate a square-degree SZ effect survey using the Press-Schecter approach for different cosmologies and calculate the expected number counts of clusters for an interferometric survey at BIMA. The number of expected sources can be much higher than previously shown if the clusters can be resolved, but this comes at the cost of introducing more dependence on cluster properties, such as the degree of central concentration.
