[46.07] Nanoarcsecond Structure of the Vela Pulsar via Interstellar Scattering

We study the radio emission region of the Vela pulsar at
nanoarcsecond angular resolution, using scattering in the
Vela supernova remnant as an AU-scale lens. We present
results of interferometric observations with ground-based
radiotelescopes and the HALCA orbiting radiotelescope, and
the resulting picture of the pulsar's emission region. We
suggest that radio-wave refraction within the pulsar's
magnetosphere may explain this structure.
