Although college-level astronomy courses are some of the most popular among undergraduates, instructors still have no dedicated journal in which to share ideas and explore the work of colleagues. The World Wide Web can ameliorate this situation through the rapid dissemination and exchange of teaching ideas. This presentation will describe one example specifically targeted toward instructors of introductory college-level astronomy courses.
Two years ago I began constructing World Wide Web pages for my own astronomy courses, and subsequently grew curious about how colleagues elsewhere used the Web. Over the past 18 months I have searched Web sites of some seven hundred colleges and universities, and have compiled a Web-based list of over one hundred astronomy course Web sites in the United States alone. These sites contain a vast amount of information such as course syllabi, lab exercises, problem sets, laboratory work, and observational projects. As a bonus, the list has proven useful to students (and the instructor!) seeking practice exams and supplementary on-line reading material.
Users are invited to inform me of changes in and possible additions to the list. Suggestions are welcome!
