The Galileo Ultraviolet Spectrometer (UVS) obtained spectra during Jupiter feature track campaigns coordinated with the Solid State Imager (SSI), Near Infrared Monitoring Spectrometer (NIMS), and Photopolarimeter Radiometer (PPR). We report on a survey of the feature track spectra from the primary mission in 1996 and 1997. Three types of spectra were examined. The 6.5 A resolution UVS G-channel obtained 528 wavelength step spectra (1133-1921 A) and also 176 step spectra (1497-1756 A) chosen to emphasize the acetylene absorption bands. The 13 A resolution UVS F-channel obtained 528 step spectra (1620-3231 A). These spectra have been divided by solar spectra from the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite SOLSTICE (Solar Stellar Irradiance Comparison Experiment) to produce I/F (reflectivity) spectra. UVS G-channel reflectivity spectra show evidence for absorption from methane, ethane, acetylene, and ethylene. The F-channel reflectivity spectra show broad band aerosol absorptions and evidence for Raman scattering in the H2 atmosphere. We will discuss spectral variations between atmospheric features and report on a search for other absorbers.
