[20.01] Variability of CIV Emission Line in Radio Loud Quasars

F. Ma, B. J. Wills, J. Yuan (U. Texas)

We report the results from our first effort to search for hidden blazars among radio loud quasars. The search is based on our prediction that we should be able to see CIV line variability not associated with Ly\alpha or CIII] line variations in every radio loud quasar. A sample of z ~ 2 radio loud quasars is being observed at McDonald Observatory and the spectra cover Ly\alpha, CIV, and CIII] emission lines. The spectra are overlayed on historical data to show possible CIV line variations in intensity and shape. The implications on models of quasar broad emission line regions are discussed, and we focus especially on the tidally disrupted star model.
