[118.06] Dense Molecular Cores in the Orion Streamer

We have used the Heinrich Hertz sub-mm telescope (HHT) to measure the J=3--2 and J=2--1 lines of 12C18O and 12C16O, and the J=3--2 line of 13C16O toward 125 high density cores in the Orion streamer cataloged by Tatematsu et al.(1993). In addition, we have also measured the (J,K)=(1,1) and (2,2) inversion transitions of NH3 from these sources. These results have been used to determine the kinetic temperatures, H2 densities and column densities of H2, CO and NH3. Estimates of the stability of these cores, and comparisons of the properties of regions in the northern, middle and southern parts of the Orion streamer are made. Additional comparisons are made with other star formation regions such as the Taurus clouds.
