We report preliminary results from NASA Sounding Rocket Flight 36.176UH which occured at 5:30 UT, August 15th, 1998. The instrument for this flight was an X-ray CCD spectrometer developed at Pennsylvania State University. The target was the low mass X-ray binary system Scorpius X-1.
Calibration and aspect solution results will be presented. The extremely high count rate in our detector indicated that Sco X-1 may have been in a flaring state during our observation, confirmed by data obtained from a simultaneous observation by the RXTE All Sky Monitor. We report on the continuum characteristics of Sco X-1 in its flaring state.
