[23.01] A Digital Imaging Technique for Archaeoastronomy Data Collection and Analysis

Some archaeological sites contain buildings or other structures which seem to be aligned with points along the local horizon. A technique will be described that allows the visualization of any local horizon rising objects using a PC.

To determine solar or lunar significant alignments is rather straight forward. However; some alignments may be more subtle and might actually represent rising or setting stellar objects or asterisms. This visualization technique will quickly allow such alignments to be seen.

The technique will be explained. Emphasis will be on the calibration of the technique. The results of an actual test of the technique will be presented.
