The Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS) develops several reference on-line services : SIMBAD, the reference database for the identification and bibliography of astronomical objects outside the solar system (with more than 2,000,000 objects, 5,300,000 object names and 100,000 bibliographical references); the catalogue service, with ftp access and the VizieR catalogue Browser (more than 2,800 catalogues, of which 2,300 are available on-line and 2,000 through the VizieR Browser); the ALADIN interactive sky atlas, with a new Preview and Java WWW display which allows one to get images of the sky, with the possibility to overlay catalogues and SIMBAD objects, and is available in the other CDS services; and bibliographic tools, in particular the Kohonen document maps and tools to recognize and tag object names in texts. The contents of the catalogue service is built in close partnership with the journal editors. Navigation between the CDS services, and with external observatory archives and bibliographic services, the ADS and the journals, is progressively implemented. In addition, the new AstroGLU resource discovery tool is developed in the context of the NASA AstroBrowse initiative, and based on the CDS GLU system (Générateur de Liens Uniformes). Mirror copies of the CDS services are available for US astronomers, SIMBAD at CfA/ADS (http://simbad.harvard.edu/Simbad) and VizieR at GSFC/ADC (http://adc.gsfc.nasa.gov/vizier/). The CDS hosts a mirror copy of ADS and of ApJ, AJ and PASP.
