[50.01] The Astronomy Biology Connection I & II Introduction

Part I will be a series of invited talks about the biological characteristics of the simplest life on Earth, and how it has affected Earth's environment.

It will include an introduction to microbes, discussion of their thermodynamics, chemical precursors of life and the development of Earth's atmosphere.

Part II will be a series of invited talks discussing the prevalence of the simplest chemicals needed for life. There will be talks about searches for microbial life on Mars, and in oceans of satellites, on the prevalence of extrasolar planets, on searching for life on extrasolar planets, and on searches for extraterrestrial communication.
