[25.04] The SIRTF Legacy Science Program

M.D. Bicay (SSC/IPAC/Caltech)

An innovative feature of the large amount of community observing time is the SIRTF Legacy Science Program. A solicitation to conduct these large-scale projects will be issued by the SSC in mid-2000, and the approved investigations will be scheduled primarily during SIRTF's first year of operations. The Legacy Science Program is designed to facilitate very large observing programs of many hundreds of hours with broad scientific utility. Moreover, its implementation will result in community access to archival data within six months of launch, and to early follow-up investigations by the second cycle of Guest Observer observations.
