[81.02] Parallaxes for 2MASS Dwarfs

C. C. Dahn (USNO)

Trigonometric parallax determinations are under way for a selection of late-type dwarfs and brown dwarfs identified in the 2MASS survey. Very preliminary solutions will be presented. The faintness of these objects at CCD wavelengths emphasizes the need for an IR camera capable of precise astrometric observations. Such an instrument, employing a 1024~x~1024 ALADDIN InSb array, will be commissioned later in 1999.
