[108.11] STIS spectroscopy of UM 425 A&B

We present STIS--CCD spectra covering the range 2100-3100Å\ for both A&B images of the gravitational lens candidate UM~425. Although the spectrum of B has a low S/N ratio, we detect Broad Absorption Lines which confirms the lens nature of the system. We discuss the implications for the modelling of the lens.
