[85.06] Evolution of the Clustering of QSO Absorbers from Redshifts 4 to 0

J.M. Quashnock (U. Chicago), D.E. Vanden Berk (McDonald Obs.)

We extend our QSO absorber clustering program by comparing the correlation function of a new sample of low-redshift heavy-element absorbers with that which we previously obtained for higher-redshift absorbers. We are thus able to trace the evolution of the clustering of absorbers from redshifts of over 4 to 0, and on scales from about 1 to 100 comoving Mpc. The implications for cosmology and growth of structure via gravitational instability are discussed.
