[42.10] First Results From Milagrito: A Prototype Gamma Ray Observatory

Morgan Wascko (for the Milagro Collaboration)

The Milagro Gamma Ray Observatory will be the world's first continuous all-sky monitor of the TeV sky, and will be located at 8700 feet above sea level in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico. Milagrito, the prototype stage of the detector, ran from Feb 97 through May 98, recording 9 billion air shower events. The first results from the Milagrito data set will be presented.
