We present the ASCA study of the Supernova Remnant (SNR) G18.95-1.1 as part of an ongoing study on composite SNRs.
A radio map of G18.95-1.1 obtained by Fürst, Reich & Aschenbach (1997) shows a distinct central bar, polarized with a flat spectral index (0.22±0.07) surrounded by a shell of diffuse emission. This remnant was observed by the ROSAT PSPC and presents a spectrum which cannot be fitted by a single temperature collisional-plasma model. We have analyzed the ASCA data of this remnant and we find that there is no conclusive proof of high-energy emission from the remnant. We examine different theories which could explain G18.95-1.1 centrally peaked morphology and present our conclusions.
