The ROSAT PSPC X-ray mosaics of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) have revealed a large number of compact sources and discrete diffuse sources. Most of the compact sources are associated with X-ray binaries, foreground stars, or background AGNs. The diffuse sources are composed of supernova remnants, superbubbles, supergiant shells, and diffuse field emission.
We have compared the X-ray images with H\alpha and optical continuum images to identify the optical counterparts of these X-ray sources. We have also determined the fractions of X-ray fluxes from diffuse sources and from point sources, respectively. A number of point X-ray sources appear to be associated with star clusters. These results are reported in this poster.
