Five star-forming cores in the Taurus molecular cloud were mapped in the C18O J=1-0 line to test theories about support mechanisms in dense cores. The clumps associated with the IRAS sources did not appear as strong prominent cores with well-defined edges but as modest peaks immersed in a pervasive medium. The ``edges" of the cores did not correspond to the centrifugal radius of Terebey et al.\ (1983) or the rTNT of Myers and Fuller (1993). The integrated intensity distributions are best modeled by an r-1 density profile, similar to that predicted by Myers and Fuller (1993) and McLaughlin and Pudritz (1997).
