Six image cubes in the visible of two SNC meteorites (Nackla and Chassigny) have been studied as possible examples of imaging spectrometry of Martian soil samples in situ analysis. On one hand we confirm the mineralogical composition of the two meteorites (piroxenes, augite, in the Nackla one, and olivine in the Chassigny one). On the other hand, we underline the difficulties intrinsic in this method of study, which while allows the discovery of the presence of small inclusions in the texture of the sample, often does not allow a clear identification of minerals, specially when unusually structured spectra are observed.
