Mars Global Surveyor has completed its first Martian year in orbit. This included aerobraking, science phasing, and mapping phases. During this period the Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) observed one regional dust storm in Noachis and many smaller, local dust storms in various regions of the planet. In this paper we will discuss the spatial and temporal distributions of these dust storms as well as the dust opacitiy, which is calculated using a radiative transfer model.
