We report the results of a pilot survey for new radio pulsars in the Small Magellanic Cloud using the 20 cm multibeam receiver at the Parkes Observatory. We have also surveyed a portion of the Large Magellanic Cloud in conjunction with other targeted pulsar searches in this region. We discuss the population of currently known pulsars in the Magellanic Clouds (including the pulsars discovered in our survey), and the prospect of a complete search of both Clouds in the near future.
