The Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS) is a moderate resolution, high throughput ultraviolet spectrograph which will be installed in the Hubble Space Telescope on Servicing Mission 4 in 2003. The instrument will provide 20,000 resolution spectroscopy in the far and near ultraviolet (1150 - 3200 Å). A peak effective area of over 2000 square cm is expected in the FUV bandpass (1150 - 1775 Å). We present the current state of the instrumentation, including measured optics and detector performance, as well as an updated estimate of on-orbit instrument performance in all modes.
