[5.03] Tidal and Collisional Spin-up of Stars in the Galactic Center

T. Alexander, P. Kumar (IAS)

We explore the implications of hyperbolic tidal interactions and physical non-destructive collisions for the spin-up of stars in very high density environments, such as probably exist near the black hole in the Galactic Center. Such effects may be relevant for the interpretation of observed stellar spectra there.
