Providing links between distributed on--line services is an efficient way to help users gather information relevant to their needs, from a variety of existing resources.

In recent years, bibliographic information has been inter--linked for the services which are part of the ``Urania'' network (electronic journals, ADS, CDS, etc).

As a next step, CDS is currently developing new links from its services to the observatory data archives: SIMBAD users are directed to IUE and HEASARC archives, the VizieR catalogue browser provides links to the IUE, HST and FIRST archives. More links will be implemented in the future.

Results from this effort are specifically important for the ALADIN sky atlas -- a versatile cross--identification tool, which allows the user to display reference images of the sky, and to overlay SIMBAD, NED, and VizieR catalogues and mission logs. Links to observatory archives are progressively being implemented : at present, the positions of HST observations can be overlayed on the images, and the ``preview'' HST images can be displayed with the full ALADIN functionalities.
