[29.06] Statistical Properties of Gamma-Ray Bursts selected according to Hardness Ratio and/or Duration

G. Pizzichini (TESRE/CNR Bologna)

The BATSE/CGRO Gamma-Ray Burst on-line catalog, available at http://cossc.gsfc.nasa.gov/cossc/batse/ , has been used in order to divide the events into different groups according to their duration and/or Hardness Ratio, defined as the 100-300 keV burst fluence divided by the 50-100 keV one.

Log N - Log P curves show short, hard bursts as an homogeneous group. The long, softest bursts have a Log N - Log P curve consistent with a -3/2 slope.

Slight anisotropies in the galactic distribution of the hardest and softest bursts are attributed to selection effects in burst detection.

Funding for this work is provided by TESRE/CNR.
