[88.09] SPINR spectral imaging of Orion

We present the results of a recent spectral imaging experiment that recorded far ultraviolet spectrally resolved images of the Orion region. Our observations used a new technique that employs a spinning wide field spectrograph to create a series of ``sinograms'' which can be numerically deconvolved to create a high resolution (Spectral resolution ~100; Spatial resolution ~5') data cube (RA, Dec, and wavelength) in the far ultraviolet (bandpass ~ 900 - 1400Å).

We use the spectra of both the stars and the diffuse emission thus obtained to study the scattering properties of dust in the Orion region. We present constraints on the albedo and phase function of the dust and discuss the implications for its physical properties.
