[96.06] First Results from the Chandra High Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer

C. Canizares (MIT)

The High Energy Transmission Grating gives spectral resolving powers of up to 1000 over the energy range 0.4-8 keV. The HETG is performing as expected and has already obtained spectra from several stellar coronae and binary X-ray sources, the Crab, SS433, SNR E0102-72, NGC 1275 and other AGN. Some of the early results will be presented that illustrate the capabilities of the instrument and it's power to performdiagnostics of cosmic plasmas.
