[41.01] Could \omegaCen Have Formed from Mergers of Globular Clusters?

C. Thurl, K.V. Johnston (Wesleyan University)

Recent photometric studies of the globular cluster \omegaCen have revealed evidence for multiple stellar populations.

Possible scenarios for the formation of such an object include: (i) multiple stars formation epochs within a single object; and (ii) mergers of distinct low-mass, single population systems.

In this poster we examine the latter scenario, by estimating the likelihood of merging of such systems within a larger galactic environment using both analytic estimates and N-body simulations.
