[56.01] Tracing the Evolution of Galaxies from Low to High Redshift

A.J. Connolly (University of Pittsburgh), SDSS Collaboration

Advances in wide field instrumentation have marked a resurgence in the the study of galaxy evolution and formation. This coming avalanche of multifrequency data will challenge not only our cosmological models but also our ability to analyze these data effectively. We describe here a series of new approaches that are being employed to estimate the physical properties of galaxies from multifrequency data, statistical descriptions of the distributions of galaxies that account for the finite uncertainties in these estimates and how these techniques can be employed to constrain the current theories of galaxy formation.
