[40.01] A technique for ultra-high resolution, high signal-to-noise spectroscopy in the far ultraviolet

J. C. Green (University of Colorado)

Ultra-high resolution (R > 500,000) spectroscopy with high signal-to-noise (S/N > 50/1) can be achieved in the far ultraviolet with existing optics and detectors when combined in the appropraite manner. I present a design to achieve spectroscopy at this level for use in detailed studies of the morphology and physical conditions of the interstellar medium.
