[28.07] The Three Dimensional Structure of the Small Magellanic Cloud

H. H. Crowl, A. Sarajedini (Wesleyan University)

We construct a three dimensional model of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) by studying nine populous SMC clusters. Using red clump luminosities from modern isochrones and photometry of the clump, we have determined the distance to each cluster. The clusters are then used as markers for the extent of the SMC population. From this information, we create a three dimensional picture of the SMC. Our results are largely in agreement with the field star population studies of previous investigators.
