[31.01] Removing Cosmic Rays from NGST-Candidate Detectors

J.D. Offenberg, D.J. Fixsen, R. Sengupta (Raytheon ITSS), M.A. Nieto-Santisteban, R.J. Hanisch (STScI)

The authors demonstrate the effectiveness of Up-The-Ramp processing in removing radiation-induced transient events in an InSb detector. The algorithm is over 99% effective at identifying and removing cosmic ray events while preserving the valid data collected by the detector. We demonstrate the Up-The-Ramp method on data collected by InSb detectors while in the proton beam of a cyclotron.
