We completed a survey of 62 nearby A stars using infrared, ultraviolet, and visible data to look for evidence of circumstellar material. Our multiwavelength survey of circumstellar material has allowed us to determine physical properties of the gas and dust around these nearby stars.
During our survey, we also detected several new systems with variable circumstellar absorption line profiles, similar to that seen in spectra of Beta Pictoris. These new systems allow us to evaluate models of proto-planetary disks, such as the evaporating comet model proposed for Beta Pic. We have been monitoring these candidate systems using high-resolution, high-s/n Ca II K and Na I D spectra obtained with the 2.7m telescope at McDonald Observatory and the 1.9m telescope at Mount Stromlo. We will present the results from our ground-based monitoring of systems variable circumstellar absorptions.
