[57.04] Measurements of the 10 Micron Bands of Ammonia at Planetary Atmospheric Temperatures

V. Nemtchinov (NASA-JPL), P. Varanasi (State University of New York at Stony Brook)

We report new data on spectral lines in the 10 micron bands of ammonia that are useful in the studies of the atmospheres of Earth and Jupiter. Line intensities, hydrogen-broadened half-widths, nitrogen-broadened half-widths, oxygen-broadened half-widths, and air-broadened half-widths were measured at 200, 255, and 296 K by employing a high-resolution Fourier-transform spectrometer and cryogenically cooled absorption cells. The variation of these spectral line parameters with temperature and the rotational quantum numbers J and K was formulated.
