[2.01] An upper limit on the AGN BH Mass given by the Warm Absorber

R. Morales, A.C. Fabian, D.R. Ballantyne (Institute of Astronomy)

In a cloud model for the warm absorber (WA), a comparison between the radiative and gravitational forces acting on the WA has led us to the estimation of an upper limit for the black hole mass of the AGN. Our method has been applied to several type 1 AGN and our results have been compared to the mass estimations of these sources by other methods. Also, a study of the relevance of the drag force acting on the WA is presented.
