[31.06] Chandra Observations of A0620-00 and GS2000+25: Two Very Dark Black Holes

M.R. Garcia, J.E. McClintock, S.S. Murray (SAO), R. Narayan (Harvard)

Chandra observations of two quiecent black-hole x-ray nova (BHXN), A0620-00 and GS2000+25 emphasize the reality of the difference in the x-ray luminosity swings of these systems and their neutron-star containing analogs. For A0620-00, the slope of the x-ray spectrum is much more accurately determined than had previously been possible, and is subtantially harder than the best fit values found with ROSAT. A 20ks Chandra observation of GS2000+25 establishes an upper limit to its x-ray luminosity which is nearly equal to the quiescent luminosity of A0620-00.
