[1.07] Chandra Observations of Highly Obscured Seyfert 2 Galaxy NGC 4945

G. Madejski (NASA/Goddard), C. Done (Durham Univ.), P. Zycki (Copernicus Ctr.), L. Greenhill (CfA)

We present the recent Chandra observation of the heavily obscured Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 4945, conducted simultaneously with the RXTE. The image of the immediate circumnuclear region reveals a plume-like structure, which is likely connected to the superwind postulated to be present in this source. We discuss the spatially resolved spectroscopy of the nuclear region, with the emphasis on the origin of the strong Fe K line, first detected with previous missions.
