Session 37. Teacher Workshop: A Universe of NASA Data - High Energy Bursts of Science and Math

Workshop, Thursday, November 9, 2000, 3:00-5:30pm, Pago Pago Ballroom

In this afternoon workshop, local teachers will be introduced to exciting ways of bringing real NASA data into their math and science lessons. Two NASA educator workshops, previously presented at the National Science Teachers' Association meeting 2000, present activities and information based on the RXTE and Swift missions. Teachers leave the hands-on workshop with a feel for the variety of objects in the high energy universe, as well as a sense of the enormous distances and power associated with Gamma Ray Bursts. Free NASA multi- media educational materials will be provided to all participants.
