[8.19] Mid Infrared Imaging of WL 16, LkH\alpha 234 and AB Aur, Pre-Main Sequence Stars

C.H. Chen, M. Jura (UCLA)

We have obtained high resolution (0.20-0.45\arcsec) mid infrared images at 8, 11.7 and 18.7 \mum of the Herbig Ae/Be stars: WL 16, LkH\alpha 234 and AB Aur, using the Keck I telescope. A circumstellar disk is resolved around WL 16 at all three wavelengths, with an angular size of 5.6\arcsec at 11.7 \mum at 10% of the peak surface brightness. The previously detected disk-like structure associated with the NW companion of LkH\alpha 234 (Polomski et al. 2000) is also resolved at all three wavelengths and is measured to have an angular size of 2.6\arcsec at 18.7 \mum. AB Aur is resolved at 18.7 \mum and appears elongated in one direction with an angular size of 1.4\arcsec at 10% of the peak surface brightness. We discuss the macroscopic geometries of the dust, disk/envelope sizes, and total masses of dust detected in addition to grain properties (temperature, size).
