[76.04] A Census of Nuclear Star Clusters - First Results from HST

T. Böker (STScI/ESA), S. Laine, R. van der Marel (STScI)

We will present first results from an HST WFPC2 snapshot survey to investigate the nature of nuclear star clusters in late-type spiral galaxies. While the program is still ongoing, a considerable number of targets have been observed already. We will summarize the properties of these intriguing objects whose formation mechanisms and impact on the evolution of their host galaxies are still a puzzle. In particular, we will summarize their sizes, luminosities, and locations relative to the photocenter of the galaxy, and discuss possible implications.
