[88.01] Chandra Views of the Supernova Remnant/Compact Object Connection

J.P. Hughes (Rutgers University)

In this presentation I will talk about the properties of the X-ray emitting hot gas in young supernova remnants with an eye toward drawing connections between the supernova remnant and the compact object it may contain. Chandra observations are yielding new insights into nucleosynthesis and other processes in supernovae that should help in understanding how the nature of the progenitor star determines the properties of the ejecta and the compact remnant.
