[80.09] Multifrequency Polarization Images of Three Quasars with the VLBA

S.G. Jorstad (Boston U and St. Petersburg State U.), T.B. Pyatunina (Inst. of Applied Astronomy, Russia), D.C. Gabuzda (JIVE and Lebedev Physical Institute)

We present total and linearly polarized intensity images of the quasars 0059+581, 1739+522, and CTA 102 at 1.3, 2, 3.6, and 6 cm obtained with the VLBA on 19 May, 2000. For all three sources the images show an unresolved polarized core from which a radio jet exdends. In the case of 1739+522 and CTA 102 the images reveal a complex polarization structure of the radio jets. We compare the total intensity and polarization parameters of the core and jet components at different frequencies and estimate Faraday rotation measures (RMs) in the central regions of the quasars and frequency-dependent shifts in the positions of the VLBI cores. We discuss the physical characteristics of the parsec-scale jets based on these results.
