[77.15] The Evolution of the Luminosity Function in the HDF to z ~1.3

J. Cohen (California Institute of Technology)

There are at present 729 objects in the region of the HDF-North with spectroscopic redshifts from our redshift survey with LRIS at the Keck Observatory. I present the evolution of their spectral energy distributions in the rest frame from 2400 to 24,000 Åfor galaxies in the region of the HDF out to z ~1.3 based on this data combined with multi-color photometric surveys in this field.

This then leads to a calculation of the evolution of the luminosity function over this range in rest wavelength and redshift for galaxies of various spectral types. The comoving number density of galaxies and the comoving luminosity density will also be presented over this redshift range in the region of the HDF.
