[18.03] Chandra Observations of the W3 Core Region

P. Hofner (University of Puerto Rico & Arecibo Observatory), B. Whitney (Space Science Institute), E. Churchwell (University of Wisconsin-Madison)

We present our recent CHANDRA observations of the W3 star forming region. A large number of X-ray sources are detected in the W3 core, with several sources coincident with the compact and ultracompact HII regions, continuum components A-F. We compare the properties and location of the X-ray sources detected with CHANDRA with high resolution radio continuum maps, as well with NIR data of this region.
