[12.17] The Hubble Space Telescope Advanced Camera for Surveys

H.C. Ford (JHU/STScI), ACS Science Team

The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) will be installed in the Hubble Space Telescope during the fourth servicing mission (SM-3B), which is now scheduled for November 2001. By the time of the AAS meeting, the Solar Blind Camera, the High Resolution Camera, and the Wide Field Camera will have been installed and tested in the ACS. In this paper we describe the ACS and its different imaging modes, and predict the performance of the three cameras.

Funding for the ACS is provided by NASA.
